    Biography of Alfred Noyes

    Alfred Noyes was an English poet and writer known for his ballads "The Highwayman" and "Sharmanka." He was born in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England, the son of Alfred Noyes, a Latin and Greek teacher, and Amelia Adams.

    He studied at Exeter College, Oxford University, but left without obtaining a degree.

    Early Career and Poetry

    At the age of 21, Noyes published his first collection of poems, "The Loom of Years," which received positive reviews from poets such as William Butler Yeats and George Meredith.

    From 1903 to 1908, he published five more poetry collections, including "The Forest of Wild Thyme," "The Flower of Old Japan," and other poems.

    Prose Works

    In 1918, Alfred Noyes released a collection of short stories ti
